Searching Me

Google Images found my profile picture on Learning House. It also searched LinkedIn and found my profile there. It of course found my blog since it is hosted on Google. It found my YouTube channel. A couple pages into the results, it found a list of honor roll students from my high school that had my name on it. On the same page, it found a Media Relations post from WWU about First Impressions.

I'm surprised it found my Learning House profile. I figured that would have been private and hidden with a robots.txt file because it's a learning site, not a social networking site, there's no reason for it to be searched by a web crawler. The other things didn't surprise me. I understand how web crawlers work, I took a Udacity course where we were building a web crawler/search engine (a simple one to be sure) in Python; I expected Google to know those things.

Cutest Dog Ever!!!/Embedding a Photo from Flickr

Cutest Dog Ever!!!!

Meet Tucker, a French Brittany.  He is one of the MOST tolerant dogs I have ever met.  He will let you pretty much do anything to him.  Right now, he has a towel tucked under his collar and he's wearing it like a cape. He's funny.  For a long time, every time he laid down, and I mean EVERY time, once he had laid down and was comfortable, he would sigh.  Sometimes it would be a big sigh and sometimes it would be a small sigh.  Sometimes he would sigh as soon as he laid down and sometimes there was a delay, but he always sighed.  He doesn't do it quite as often anymore, but it's still funny.

Embedding a Photo From Flickr

Now for comparing uploading a photo and embedding a photo.  I see benefits to both.  Embedding a photo allows for navigation of a set of photos hosted on Flickr.  This is great if you have an album of photos you want to share.  If you only have one photo you want to share, uploading the photo to Blogger is a great choice because there's no reason to use your storage space on Flickr and there's also not a need to link out to another site.  Also, when you embed, if you edit the set of photos later, you don't have to edit the blog post.  If you edited the album or edited a picture and you had uploaded the photo to Blogger, you would have to go back to the post and edit it.

"Let it go" from Frozen ASL interpretation

We went out in the cold and re-shot Molly's video today. She did a pretty good job once again!

"Let it go" from Frozen in ASL

This is an EXCELLENT translation of one of my favorite songs from Frozen!  Check it out!
